Abdilqadir Hubess, a former journalist at Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), has regrettably passed away. He had previously served at Voice of Kenya before the organization underwent rebranding and became KBC. The news of his demise was announced by KBC, his former employer, which paid tribute to his contributions as a veteran journalist. Hubess passed away on Jamhuri Day, the 12th of December. However, the cause of his death has not been disclosed at this time. It is noteworthy that Hubess played a significant role as one of the pioneers during the transition of Kenya Broadcasting Corporation from Voice of Kenya.
In the 1990s, Hubess collaborated with esteemed veteran journalists from Kenya, including the late Catherine Kasavuli, Leonard Mambo Mbotela, and Badi Muhsin. Additionally, several renowned hosts who graced the radio waves during the 1990s and early 2000s have aged gracefully, while some have unfortunately passed away. Abdilqadir Hubess will be forever remembered for his pivotal role in shaping the Kenyan media landscape as one of the trailblazers of the country's inaugural broadcasting media.
