Kirinyaga County Commissioner Nayioma Tobiko has put cattle rustlers in Mwea on notice saying those found culpable will be prosecuted in court.

Speaking during the Jamhuri Day Celebration on Tuesday in Mwea, the County commissioner noted that the number of cattle disappearing mysteriously and being reported at various police stations was alarming.

“Let them be warned that our law enforcers will catch up with them, and I can assure them that it will not be a pleasant experience for them,” Tobiko said.

He also warned meat consumers, disclosing that the meat may not meet standards if stolen cows are slaughtered in the bush and then sold to butchery operators.

“We are urging members of the public to be vigilant, especially when buying meat, to avoid consuming uninspected products,” said the CC.
