Democratic Action Party Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has asked President William Ruto to stop over-taxing Kenyans, calling for fuel prices to be reduced.
Speaking in Vihiga County during the Jamhuri Day celebrations, Wamalwa said that crude oil prices worldwide have gone down and that the prices in Tanzania have gone down too, but it's only the Kenyan government that is adamant not to lower them.
The DAP-K leader said that the only good thing Ruto's government can do this festive season is to lower fuel prices.

Wamalwa, who served as a member of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO), which was tasked with addressing the cost of living, said that delegates from the Kenya kwanza side had no interest in addressing issues concerning the common mwanachi but were rather focused on creating new offices for themselves.
After the NADCO committee aired its report, Eugene Wamalwa expressed dissatisfaction with the committee's findings, citing the cost of living issues were not addressed.
While speaking to a congregation at Tingolo Catholic Church in Busia County, the former Defence Cabinet Secretary swore not to sign the report and rejected any related sitting allowance.
"I didn't and will not append my signature to the NADCO report and have not and will not accept any sitting allowance for the same because I believe we did not do justice to the single most important issue to Kenyans; the cost of living," he said
