Ong'arima Primary School headteacher in Teso South sub-county, Busia county, was fatally shot by assailants who raided his house and made away with money that had been stored in boxes.
The deceased, Charles Emoto’s widow, Prisca Amoit, said the thugs raided their house on Wednesday night, armed with guns and axes, and stole money in two boxes.
"The money included collections from members of a group the couple belonged to," she said.
Teso South sub-county police commander Amos Ambasa and officer Said Majumbo said investigations are underway.
They called on public members with any information on the culprits to report to the nearest police station.
