The search for the bodies of three gold miners believed to have died at the Kurutyange mines in Migori County has begun, with families of the deceased blaming the county and national governments.

On Thursday of last week, the miners were prospecting for gold when they allegedly drowned after the water pumping system failed.

Subdivision of Kuria West According to Deputy County Commissioner Andrew Mwiti, four miners were trapped, and one body has so far been recovered.

The families of the missing miners have accused the government of failing to respond promptly.


Simon Mwita stated that they had been alone for the past four days. She claims that the county government has only provided them with a generator that is ineffective at pumping water.

His remarks were echoed by Manuel Matiko, who stated that they have decided to hire generators and purchase fuel to facilitate water pumping.

Currently, the miners searching for their missing colleagues are optimistic that they will find their bodies soon.
