Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced that police and prison officers are set to receive a 40 percent pay raise beginning July this year.
Speaking in Nyandarua on Tuesday, Gachagua said the hike will improve the living standards of uniform personnel in the country.
“What you do is a very important assignment for this country. From July first this year, we will increase your salaries progressively within three years by forty percent.”
“When the morale of our officers is boosted, they will take care of you (inmates) even better. We know the challenges our officers are facing—the housing challenges,” he said.
President William Ruto constituted a National Taskforce on Police Reforms to identify and recommend ways to improve the living standards of police officers in December 2022.
