The National Housing Corporation (NHC) is set to build 20,000 housing units at Changamwe in Mombasa to sit on sixty acres of land.
The units will comprise 10,000 affordable, 4,000 social, and 6,000 cheap market houses.
The estate will include schools, a sports complex, access to clean water, electricity, sanitation, and other integrated amenities.
State Department for Housing and Urban Development Administration Secretary Hiram Kahiro said the project will address the housing shortage in coastal towns.
“We recognize the need to promote socio-economic development in this region and across the country, passing on the benefits of affordable housing to individuals, families, and the community at large,” Kahiro said.
