A newborn was rescued after being abandoned at Njukini Market Centre in Taita Taveta County.
The infant girl, whose exact age is unknown, was discovered at the door of one of the business kiosks at 06:45 a.m.
Judy Kimeshinda, a 34-year-old businesswoman who discovered the baby, reported the event to the Chumvini Police Station in Njukini.
Police have taken the infant to Njukini Health Centre for medication and evaluations as the search for the parents continues.
