Wiper leader and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka has raised objections to the recent 16 percent increase in electricity prices, expressing concerns about its adverse impact on Kenyan citizens.
Speaking on his X platform, Kalonzo said President William Ruto’s government has been failing Kenyans by continually raising taxes, making life difficult for them.
Further, he said that these price hikes had escalated the cost of living, leaving Kenyans feeling “tired, hungry, and angry.”
The 16% increase in tokens by @KenyaPower is the latest unacceptable burden on tired, hungry and angry Kenyans. This is the cleared example of the KK regime's inability to address the cost of living. They want to leave us in the dark, but I am telling them, know kuna nuru gizani.

The strengthening shilling and other levies, such as the fuel cost tax and foreign exchange rate changes, are to blame for the increase in the price of electricity tokens.
Customers may expect to spend 16.5% more for power, with prices rising from Kes 3.98 per unit in December 2023 to Kes 4.33 per unit.
Musyoka's demonstration highlights the requirement for government responsibility in overseeing vital services and guaranteeing that people may afford the needs of life.
