Kisii County Governor Simba Arati and National Assembly Chief Whip Sylvanus Osoro have been summoned to a consultative meeting by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu in response to recent incidents of violence in Kisii County.
On January 6 and 8, violence erupted at two events hosted by Governor Arati.
Arati was attending a funeral in South Mugirango on January 6 when men with apparent ties to MP Osoro disrupted the occasion, openly firing arrows at mourners despite the presence of police.

The education CS has stated that, in response to the concerning occurrences, local authorities have agreed to hold a consultative conference to iron out any ongoing squabbles.
The meeting will take place on January 17 at a location to be announced later, according to the CS.
Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka has accepted the invitation, stressing that negotiations are necessary to maintain peace in the country.
He has also urged the parties to comply with the summons and "give reconciliation a chance."
"We as leaders can disagree on principle but when violence hits in then we lose our credibility as the representatives of the people. Development can't thrive amidst too much noise and violence, progress cannot be a priority in chaos and disorder," Onyonka said in a statement on Sunday.
This comes barely a week after the orange democratic party (ODM) called for the transfer of Kisii County Police Commander Charles Kasses, claiming the life of Simba Arati was in danger.
"The ODM party expresses serious concern about the life and safety of its National Vice-Chair and Kisii Governor Simba Arati following repeated violent attacks perpetrated by known persons in broad daylight with what appears to be tacit support and collaboration with elements in the security forces," he said.
"It turned out that those gunmen were police officers. One of the officers captured firing at the crowd with an AK47 rifle was identified as one Kevin Lagat of Force Number 26085, he is a police constable attached to Osoro," he added.
