Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s spouse, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, has revealed that her passion for the fight against alcoholism is from the loss of her brother and brother-in-law to alcoholism.

Speaking to students of the University of Embu, Pastor Dorcas shared the pain of her family losing one of the brothers.

“Don’t think I do all these things (fighting against drugs and alcoholism) without background or something that has happened to my family. We have lost brothers to alcohol, my own brother and my brother-in-law. One of those we buried was an engineer, another one was a medical doctor in South Africa,” she narrated.

Godfrey Mwago, a recovered addict and one of the program's beneficiaries, shared with the students his experience of becoming an alcoholic after losing two jobs as a result of drunkenness.

Last year, Mwago was brought to Timau, Meru County, for rehabilitation.

Pastor Dorcas is on a three-day tour of Embu County, where her office will screen some addicts for rehabilitation today at Embu Stadium.
