Kipchumba Murkomen, the Cabinet Secretary for Transportation, will formally open the recently finished Haile Selassie Exit Plaza on the Nairobi Expressway today.

The exit above will host the event.

"We are pleased to announce that the trial operation of the newly completed Nairobi Expressway Haile Selassie Exit Plaza will commence on Saturday, January 20, 2024," Moja Expressway said in a statement on X on Friday.

The well-planned exit, which has five lanes overall, is expected to provide drivers with a quicker and more efficient route to Nairobi's CBD, Upper Hill, and Ngong Road.

The government raised the fees for utilizing the Nairobi Expressway on January 1.

Under the revised rates, drivers will have to pay Ksh. 250 instead of Ksh. 100 when they enter the Expressway on Mlolongo and exit at the SGR station and the Eastern Bypass. Those who exit at the Southern Bypass will have to pay Ksh. 330 instead of Ksh. 210.

Vehicles leaving the Capital Hill and Haile Selassie stations on the same route will now pay Ksh.410 instead of Ksh.210.

The rates for exits at Museum Hill, The Mall, and Nairobi Westland's terminus would increase from Ksh.310 to Ksh. 500.

Drivers using the opposite route from the Nairobi Westlands entry terminus to the Mlolongo exit terminal will likewise be subject to the same fees.

Drivers will now pay Ksh.170 instead of Ksh.100 for the shorter routes from Syokimau to the SGR station and from SGR and the JKIA stations to the Eastern Bypass. This same holds for the opposite routes.
