Following an accident involving a bus and a lorry in the Othoo area in Nyando sub-county along the Kisumu - Nairobi Highway, eleven deaths have been officially reported.
According to Allan Mwangi, the Nyanza Regional Traffic Enforcement Officer, numerous other passengers were admitted to Ahero Sub-county Hospital and JOOTRH after the 2.30 am collision.
Two women, eight men, and a teenage boy are among the deceased. Fifty-three passengers have been injured in all as a result of the collision.
According to Mwangi, the bus was trying to overtake when it struck an approaching lorry head-on, instantly killing the 11 people inside. The bus was going toward Nairobi. Several passengers were injured as a result of the collision.
