A turnboy in Kirinyaga has died while trying to stop a lorry with failed breaks from rolling.
According to witness Henry Warui, when the vehicle's brakes failed, the turnboy attempted to stop the lorry with a stick but was unsuccessful and crushed.
According to resident Peter Mbugua, when the vehicle demolished the turnboy, it drove off the feeder road, collided with an electricity pole, and finally stopped.
"We thank God there was nobody along the busy feeder road," he said.

Kiamwenja assistant chief Nicholas Munene Njiru explained that the lorry could not halt due to the rough terrain.
"The lorry was ferrying the ballast from 'Kwa V' quarry near Sagana to this village when the accident happened," Munene said in a statement.
The deceased's body was brought to the Kerugoya mortuary, and the lorry was pulled to the Kerugoya police station without ballast.
