Locals reported the arson attack was carried out by hired goons and targeted households involved in the property dispute.

Residents who say the land is their hereditary property were forced to escape after armed men stormed their homes.

Some victims were forced to camp in the bushes, while others sought sanctuary in relatives' homes.

The approximately 16 impacted families have urged the county and national governments to intervene immediately and give humanitarian assistance.

Residents were outraged and demanded accountability from local officials and assistance with food, housing, and medical supplies.

Kipkomo sub-county Police Commander Adano Abukula said that 13 families involved with the land dispute had lost the legal battle and were set to be evicted.

Adano stated that investigations into the arson attack had begun and that five members of the warring parties had been arrested for failing to pay Sh 2.2 million in damages.
