The coach of the late world marathon runner Kelvin Kiptum, will be laid to rest on Wednesday at the Rusororo Cemetery in Kigali, Rwanda.

Gervais Hakizimana's funeral began on Tuesday and will end today with a burial service.

Hakizimana Gervais died on February 11, 2024, in a car accident on the Elgeyo Marakwet-Ravine route, which also killed Kiptum.

An autopsy report prepared by pathologist Dr. Benson Macharia revealed that the deceased died as a result of a head injury. However, his family eventually rejected the results, alleging anomalies.

"When we examined him, he had no fractures. We consequently deny this report," Sandrine, the deceased's niece, stated.

Kiptum will be laid to rest in his home on Friday, following the completion of the construction of his family home.
