A Subaru vehicle was set ablaze by furious boda boda operators after it lost a collision and killed two of their colleagues in Kisumu County.

Police say the Subaru driver sustained minor injuries and was rushed to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.

This comes shortly after five people died after a lorry rammed a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) along the Katito-Kendu Bay road in Kisumu.

The lorry, ferrying sand towards Kisumu, is reported to have had a tire burst before the driver lost control and got into a head-on collision with the matatu heading to Homa Bay.

Two other people who sustained injuries in the accident received treatment at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, while others were treated at the Nyakach sub-county hospital.

Confirming the accident, Nyanza Regional Traffic police boss Allan Mwangi said that investigations have begun to establish the exact number of passengers in the ill-fated vehicle.
