The funeral service for World Marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum was rescheduled to the Chepkorio showgrounds in Keiyo South due to strong winds that damaged the Chepsamo venue on Thursday.

The organizers informed the media that the location had to be adjusted because of high winds.

The extent of the damage was visible in multiple images obtained by the media after the tents that had been erected were blown off by strong winds, with some of them crashing into parked cars.

According to photos, at least two cars had significant damage; one had a frontal bonnet and smashed windscreen, while the other had body damage.

In the meantime, everything is prepared for Kiptum's internment at his Naiberi farm.  The world record holder and his coach, Gervais Hakizimana, perished in a traffic accident on February 11, 2024.   Athlete dignitaries, state dignitaries, and President William Ruto are anticipated to attend his farewell.
