Police in Migori County have confiscated 160 kilograms of bhang with an estimated street value of Ksh.4.8 million.

Hidden in four sacks, the bhang was seized on Friday during an operation headed by Isebania police OCS Meshack Mulwa at the Kenya-Tanzania border.

Confirming the incident, Migori County Police Commander Francis Nguli told Citizen Digital that the bhang was intercepted near Mali Ngumu and was being transported onboard a motorbike, whose rider fled after realizing police were pursuing him.

According to Nguli, a manhunt for the culprit is presently underway, and police in the area will not stop fighting drug trafficking.

Isebania police officials also confiscated ten bags of jaggery worth an estimated Ksh.140,000 that were being smuggled into Kenya.

One individual was arrested in connection with the event. He is likely to be arraigned on Monday.
