The government has closed five schools in insecurity-prone areas of Baringo County following run-away banditry in the region over the past two weeks.
Kosile, Ngaratuko, Kibenos, Kagir, and Yatya primary schools closed after two people were killed, including the Kagir Primary School headteacher.
Authorities say bandits from the neighboring Tiaty constituency killed a 59-year-old man on Wednesday when they attacked Yatya village, forcing locals to flee for safety.
Confirming the incidents, Baringo North MP Joseph Makilap said the situation is getting out of hand urging the government to immediately stop the attacks.
He spoke after visiting victims of banditry who are still recuperating at Baringo Referral Hospital.
