Police officers have launched a probe after a 61-year-old businessman died under mysterious circumstances in Gem Wagai in Siaya County.
Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo stated that the businessman collapsed and died at Akala market on Wednesday evening.
“The businessman, who has been identified as Onyango Okinya, is a resident of Wambusa village. He is said to have collapsed and died in his stall,” Kimaiyo said.

He claimed that Kanyadet Assistant Chief Michael Owindu reported the incident to the Akala police station.
“Officers from Akala police station visited the scene. The body of the businessman had no visible injuries,” police added.
Initial reports indicate that the deceased had been ill for the previous two months. Okinya's body was brought to the Bondo Sub County Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
