The Community Health Promoters (CHP) program, according to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, will be fully implemented to aid in disease detection and lower treatment costs.

Speaking on Monday in Nyahururu, Laikipia County, the Deputy President stated that the monthly stipend for the 107,000 Community Health Promoters who have been assigned throughout the nation to carry out the program has already been made available by the national government.

"The CHPs are doing a great job in providing promotive and preventive healthcare services. They are helping the people detect lifestyle diseases early," said Mr Gachagua.

He gave a speech at the official opening of the recently built Mother and Child Unit at Nyahururu County Referral Hospital in Laikipia County.

According to Mr. Gachagua, the CHPs are fully equipped with the necessary tools to guarantee the program's success.

He added that the government collaborated closely with the counties to guarantee that the program was appropriately carried out locally.

The Deputy President announced that a new outpatient wing will be built at the Referral Hospital in coordination with the Laikipia government to guarantee that more healthcare services are available to the public.

"The national government and the county will make equal contributions to ensure the Outpatient facility is completed on time," he said.

Congratulations to the Laikipia leaders, particularly Governor Joshua Irungu, Senator John Kinyua, and local MPs, on their efforts toward expedited development; he challenged other counties to imitate their unity.

"As they serve the people, all elected leaders need to be unified and committed." The DP stated it is the only surefire way to guarantee our nation's progress.

He said the County was efficiently implementing development projects, such as building roads and issuing title deeds.

"We found huge debts when we took over but now things have settled and we are implementing many projects in this County and across the country," he said.

Alongside the Deputy President were Senators John Kinyua of Laikipia and John Methu of Nyandarua, Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha, Deputy Governor Joshua Irungu, and Deputy Governor Rueben Kamuri.

Several MPs were also present, including former Laikipia County MP Cate Waruguru, Laikipia West MP Wachira Karani, Kiambu Woman Rep Anne Wamuratha, Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara, Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji, Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ng'eno, Molo MP Kuria Kimani, Subukia MP Samuel Gachobe, Ndaragwa MP George Gachagua, and several MCAs led by Igwamiti Ward MCA Irene Wachuka.
