A former worker at Gebeya Limited has filed a lawsuit in the Milimani Law Court, claiming she was fired and is owed general damages of over Ksh. 10 million.

According to Rachel Mumbe Nyamai, she was wrongfully fired and did not receive her full benefits as stipulated in her contract.

In the court documents, she claims that the company asked her to work as a consultant in 2020 to create a marketing department, which she did.

She claims she received an offer to work as the Director of Business Development and Sales.

According to her letter, "the claimant dutifully and satisfactorily performed her duties as the Respondent's Director of Sales and Business Development and in accordance with the employment contract."

She does, however, assert that in spite of her hard work, which resulted in a sharp rise in product sales and a notable increase in the company's annual revenue, the business CEO undercut and irritated her, leading to unjust working conditions.

"The respondents displayed a persistent pattern of undermining the claimant's contributions and encouraged the use of derogatory language and insults..." she claims.
