Charles Muriu Kahariri, a major general, has been elevated to the rank of lieutenant general by President William Ruto and designated as the vice chair of the defense forces.
Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi, whose 42-year tenure is ending, is replaced by Muriu.
Additionally, Major General David Tarus was named Commander of the Kenya Army by the president, who elevated him to Lieutenant General. After 39 years of service, Lieutenant General Peter Mbogo Njiru retired, and Kimaiyo took his place. Kimaiyo held the position of Deputy Army Commander before his appointment.
Jimsom Longiro, a Major General in the Kenyan Navy, was also promoted to Lieutenant General and will now serve as the Vice Chancellor of the National Defense University.
