An eight-year-old girl died after a tractor knocked her down while walking home from school last evening at Mosop along the Bomet-Kaplong highway in Narok County.
Confirming the incident, Bomet County disaster management officer Stanley Mutai said the tractor occupied the whole road area where the girl was walking, killing her on the spot.
Further, an eyewitness alleged that the tractor driver was meandering in an area where the pedestrians are usually safe to walk.
Following the incident, a snarl up of vehicles plying Kisii- Narok lasted for hours before police restored normalcy where the body of the deceased was taken to Kapkatet hospital mortuary.
The tractor was towed to Chebole police station for inspection.
