Rescue workers have recovered the body of a student who drowned in Kishenyi dam in Taita Taveta.

According to eyewitness reports, the form-three pupil was heard pleading for help after appearing to be overcome by the water where he had gone for a swim.

The body was moved to the Wesu Hospital mortuary.

Meanwhile, locals have urged the Taita Taveta County government to fence the dam to prevent similar incidents.
