Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA) has appointed Richard Ipero Omelu as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Aden Hussein.

Hussein has been serving in an acting capacity.

Omelu’s appointment comes after he emerged as the top candidate from interviews conducted for the position.

He will report to the Board of Directors and will be responsible for providing effective strategic leadership by guiding the Authority's operations on a day-to-day basis and implementing activities in accordance with the law, government regulations, and the guidance provided by the Board from time to time.

His term is initially set to expire after five years, subject to renewal based on his performance.

Omelu, who was previously the Director of Strategy, Planning, and MSE Coordination at the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority within the Ministry of Cooperatives and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development, brings a wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors to the table.

He has a Bachelor of Arts in Commerce and a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management.

Additionally, Omelu is a member of the Institute of Risk Management and has played a key role in developing and implementing strategic plans, resource mobilization, corporate performance, and risk management frameworks for various organizations.
