Dagoretti Member of Parliament Beatrice Elachi is concerned that the posh Kilimani Area is becoming a den of thieves and illegal activities.

Speaking during a citizen TV show, the MP compared the nightlife in Kilimani to 'Sodom and Gomorrah'.

“When you walk in Kilimani at night, which I do, nowadays I have had to become a police officer. I find young people all over. How they are dressed we have decided that is our value. I don't know what Kenya and I don't know what is happening with our country,” she stated.

“We have decided to become Sodom and Gomorrah and we don't care.”

She explained that the young people she has encountered are mostly university students. Elachi noted poor behavior in bars and clubs in the Dagoretti North constituency.

“How I wish you could walk in clubs in Dagoretti North, oh you would feel bad for parents…We said we didn't want a brothel in Kenya. We have so many in the bars,” she said.

She further claimed that immigrants in Dagoretti North had jeopardized the security in the area.

“The Nigerians have some policemen that protect them, the Pakistanis have their own, and they are protected. So each team in Dagoretti North, that's how they operate,” she added.

“I pleaded with the president and the CS to not allow our officers to stay more than three years. Stay more than three years you are compromised, you become something else. Two years is enough, go to another station,” Elachi added.
