The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has rolled out a recruitment drive to enlist 1,500 new cadets and rangers.

KWS says it seeks to recruit 150 Rangers and 1,350 cadets who can endure the conditions for training and deployment to various conservation areas in a phased approach to responding to the wildlife protection challenges currently being experienced in the country

For recruitment as a cadet, one must be a Kenyan Citizen aged 28 years and below with no criminal record.

One should also have a Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution with a minimum of a second-class honors lower division.

The areas of specialization should be Wildlife management, natural resources management, Environmental science, Range management, Veterinary medicine, criminology, Security management, Tourism management, Education, Sociology, or Community development.

Interested applicants must download the application form from the KWS website or obtain it from KWS National Park stations and deliver their application with relevant academic and professional certificates by April 8.

Successful applicants will undergo mandatory paramilitary training for nine months.

On the other hand, those wishing to enlist as rangers are supposed to be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 28 years with a minimum of mean KCSE grade D.

They are expected to present academic certificates and IDs for verification from Monday, April 15, to Friday, April 19, at recruitment centers in 47 counties.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo six months of mandatory paramilitary training and then deploy to the field.

National Youth Service (NYS) graduates, Persons with disability, women, those from marginalized areas and minority communities are encouraged to apply.
