Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have arrested a man and woman at the Keroka–Sotik highway in Borabu, Nyamira County, for possessing Kes 5 million bhang.
According to the DCI, the suspects, Samuel Omondi and Judith Kerubo, both aged 29 years, were apprehended with the drugs stashed in five sacks.
The suspects are expected to be arraigned.
In a separate incident, DCI detectives arrested two suspects in possession of bhang, which has an estimated street value of Kes 9 million.
In a statement on Monday, DCI said it was pursuing a third suspect who escaped the operation supported by police in Isebania.

“In the company of two men, Daniel Okoth was entrusted to chauffeur Kes 9 million worth of the banned substance to Kenya through the Nyametaburo route and later join Isebania – Migori highway at Mabera.”
The agency said the 300 kilograms of bhang, packed in 6 gunny bags, was transported in a Toyota Landcruiser.
According to the DCI, Okoth, the vehicle's driver, attempted to speed off past a roadblock to escape the police.
He was, however, restrained and captured alongside one of his associates, Erick Ombina.
The agents booked the two suspects at Isebania Police Station pending arraignment in court.
