Lamu County's Louis Kipngetich Ronoh has died.

The National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) issued a statement announcing his death Thursday evening.

"This evening, we find ourselves in a sombre mood as we remember Louis Kipngetich Ronoh, County Commissioner of Lamu County, who has sadly departed following a brief illness."

According to the announcement, Ronoh had 27 years of distinguished service as a National Government Administrative Officer before his demise.

“His recent promotion to County Commissioner on March 16, 2023, was a testament to his exemplary service and commitment. We extend our sincere condolences to Ronoh's family, relatives, and friends during this difficult time,” the statement added.

Prof. Kithure Kindiki, Interior Cabinet Secretary, has expressed condolences over the death of Lamu County Commissioner Louis Kipng'etich Rono due to sickness.

Kindiki extended his condolences to Rono's family, noting that he served the nation with distinction in numerous positions and posts during his career.

He stated that the late county commissioner would be remembered for directing the Lamu County Security and Intelligence Team during the fight on terror in Boni Forest.

Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo, on his part, described the late Rono as a hardworking and committed National Government Administrative Officer.

"He will be remembered for his unselfish dedication to people and the country. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends," the PS stated.

Lamu West MP Stanley Muthama stated that the deceased was a vital community member in terms of security, public involvement, peace, cohesiveness, and integration.

"I pass my heartfelt condolences to his family and those who interacted with him in the line of duty," Muthama said.
