Popular disc jockey Joe Mfalme, also known as Joseph Mwenda, has spoken out following his arrest in connection with the death of a senior Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer after an assault incident in Kiambu County.
Mwenda, along with his bouncer, driver, and photographer, allegedly assaulted Kabete Police Station Deputy DCIO Felix Kelian on March 16 in Kikuyu market.
Over the weekend, the DJ was apprehended along with three police officers from Kikuyu Police Station.
In a statement released on Sunday, Mwenda expressed that he and his team have been cooperating with investigative agencies since the incident, which they described as regrettable.

“We express our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and all those impacted by this unfortunate incident. DJ Joe Mfalme and his team have been in close collaboration with the investigative agencies since the occurrence of the incident,” read the statement posted on social media.
Mwenda said they will cooperate as required, adding that they trust in God and authorities general to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation to “uncover the truth”.
“Given the ongoing investigations and the sensitive nature of the matter, we shall refrain from making any further statements at this time,” the deejay, who is presently detained at the Kabete Police Station, added.
On Saturday, DJ Joe Mfalme, a well-known Kenyan deejay, was arrested in connection with the murder of Deputy DCIO Felix Kelian from Kabete Police Station. Allegedly, DJ Joe Mfalme, along with his driver, bouncer, and photographer, were involved in an attack on the Kabete Deputy DCIO on March 16, 2024.
Inspector Kelian passed away on Friday at Nairobi West Hospital, where he was being treated for abdominal pains and other injuries sustained during the purported assault. Currently, DJ Mfalme and his co-accused are held in detention at Kabete Police Station, facing charges of murder. They are scheduled to appear in court for arraignment.
As per a police report, the incident unfolded after Officer Felix was reportedly involved in a "non-injury accident" around 4 am near Kikuyu market, close to Kabete. Sources indicate that a woman, believed to be associated with Mfalme's team and present during the incident, is currently being sought by authorities.
