The hearing of a Ksh221 million fraud case against Trans-Nzoia senator Allan Chesang and six other individuals was adjourned early due to the senator's non-attendance during the afternoon session.

Due to Chesang's virtual absence from the Tuesday morning session, Nairobi Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina was forced to postpone the sessions until June.

The prosecution's disapproval of his absence from the afternoon session was not well-received, and they insisted that he physically appear in court.

The senator's attorneys claimed he was in Switzerland for parliamentary business, so starting on Monday, he was virtually present in court.

As ordered by the court, the senator must be physically present for the hearing to proceed from June 4 to 7, 2024.

Senator Chesang is charged with fabricating a 210-million-shilling purchase order and presenting it as coming from Makindu Motors Limited's owner.
