The governor of Brazil's northeastern state of Pernambuco said that a bus crashed into an Easter Sunday procession, resulting in the deaths of at least four people.

Governor Raquel Lyra posted on Instagram, expressing her condolences to the families and worshippers of those killed in the hit-and-run that happened during the procession in Jaboatao, which resulted in the deaths of at least four people.

According to emergency responders quoted by the local media, the incident also resulted in about 20 injuries.

Mano Medeiros, the mayor of Jaboatao, declared it a "serious accident" on the social media platform X. Still, he did not disclose the number of casualties or the reasons behind it.

Unverified footage of the collision, which has been making the rounds on social media and in local media, showed the bus plunging down a steep road and colliding with spectators.
