Six of the ten people killed in a horrific road accident involving five vehicles at Salama in Makueni County were relatives.
The six, a man, a woman, and four youngsters, were members of an extended family based in Nakuru who had come to Mombasa on Thursday for Easter festivities.
They were returning to Nakuru on Monday when their 14-seater matatu, part of a convoy of three cars, collided with a truck.
According to the victim's kin, Anne Njenga, four of the seven surviving family members are presently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Makindu, with the remaining three recovering at a facility in Nakuru.
According to police sources, the collisions began when the lorry's driver, traveling towards Mombasa, unexpectedly diverted the vehicle from its assigned lane and collided with the matatu.
