The governor of Uasin Gishu has urged National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) Managing Director Joseph Kimote to come clean on the source of fake fertilizer.
Bii, speaking in Eldoret town, stated that the MD is responsible for the presence of phony fertilizer in NCPB stores.
The governor urged Kimote to speak out publicly about the presence and distribution of counterfeit fertilizer, emphasizing the importance of conducting a comprehensive investigation.

Bii believes it is terrible that this occurs as farmers rush to prepare for planting.
“How was it possible to have fake fertilizer in NCPB stores? This is a Kenya Kwanza government project. Last year we did not see a problem. You must be answerable?” Bii said on Wednesday.
Farmers across Kenya have reported receiving substandard fertilizer, some containing rocks and animal droppings.
Last Monday, Agriculture Principal Secretary Kipronoh Ronoh directed NCPB to halt fertilizer delivery.
Kimote was directed to inquire about the fertilizer's specifications before re-distribution.
However, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi has denied that phony fertilizer was distributed through the NCPB.
