Kenyans have criticized Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha for alleging that the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) cartels who were exploiting both Kenyans and the government. She stated that this prompted the transition to the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) in order to eradicate such fraudulent activities.

Responding to a statement made by Nakhumicha while defending the new government healthcare fund SHIF, as quoted by NTV Kenya, where the CS argued that the government shifted from NHIF to SHIF due to rampant corruption and fraud in the former, Kenyans have criticized her, arguing that their Kenya Kwanza regime is the one plagued with more fraudulent activities.

Hence, she cannot accuse NHIF of engaging in fraudulent activities as if their new cover SHIF will miraculously eliminate such practices, which are prevalent throughout the current administration. They have pointed out that the current regime is the one with more instances of fraud, including the distribution of fake fertilizer. Therefore, they question how the new healthcare cover SHIF can be any better, as Nakhumicha is claiming.
