Six people died, and several others were severely injured after a lorry and a private car collided in the Duka Moja area on the Kericho - Nakuru highway on Monday evening.
Regional traffic commandant Dorothy Muleke confirmed the accident. She said the private vehicle driver was overtaking a fleet of vehicles when he collided with the lorry.
Six passengers in the private vehicle (a Toyota Probox) died on the spot while one was rushed to hospital in critical condition.
Further, he revealed that the private car was headed to Kericho during the accident while the lorry was headed in a different direction.
Survivors are being treated in various hospitals in Kericho town.
