A section of the Nairobi-Garissa (A3) Road has been closed by the Kenya National Highways Authority because of flooding in the Mororo area between Madogo and Tana River Bridge.

The continuous downpour battering many areas of the nation has been blamed for the flooding.

"The increased water has prompted an advisory that the Seven Folks Dams are rapidly filling to near full capacity," KeNHA said in a Monday statement posted on X.

"The flooding at Mororo has compromised one lane of the road. This poses high safety risk to the road users."

According to KeNHA, the road will stay closed until the waters subside and the damage to the section is fixed. The Agency advised drivers to find alternate routes.

"The Authoriry staff are on site ready to deal with the washout immediately the waters subside. We urge motorists to exercise caution and avoid driving in floodwaters." said KeNHA.
