Virginia, who was severely pregnant, was held at Matuu police station while officials from the Directorate of Criminal Inquiries (DCI) conducted further inquiries.
On Monday, April 16, the accused appeared in court, and Principal Magistrate Paul Matanda acquitted her of the suspected murder of her son.
Investigators concluded that the infant died of malnutrition after medical investigations.
Shortly after the acquittal, Virginia experienced labor pains on the court grounds, causing court staffers to panic and hunt for less to cover her up.
The court authorities promptly summoned nurses from the adjacent Kithimani clinic, who successfully delivered Virginia's baby girl.
After her health stabilized, the mother and her newborn daughter were transported to her remote home by a police car from Matuu station.
