Kipchumba Murkomen, the cabinet secretary for Roads and transport, has committed to reducing the nation's traffic accidents significantly.

The CS promised to follow President William Ruto's order to stop the current pattern of frequent road carnage, which has resulted in numerous fatalities and numerous severe injuries to Kenyans.

Murkomen revealed on Thursday morning that drivers who disregard traffic laws will be held accountable for their actions.

"Following the directives issued by His Excellency the President, all police officers are under instructions to enforce the law without considering their police departments. Such errant drivers, ridders & passengers will be in aloooooot of trouble. The numbers must fall," he posted on his X account.

Speaking at the unveiling of the National Road Safety Action Plan 2024, President Ruto stated that his administration would actively raise awareness of road safety issues, implement a zero-tolerance policy for negligence, and improve infrastructure.

He also mentioned that the government will use cutting-edge traffic monitoring technology to guarantee the security of drivers nationwide.
