The family has announced that the memorial service for the late General Francis Ogolla will take place at his Alego home in Siaya County, five days following his burial.

The Ulinzi Sports Complex will host the memorial, according to a statement obtained by Waza News.

"Additionally, a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 26th, 2024, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Langata, where he found solace in his biweekly runs," family spokesperson Joel Ogolla said.

"Let us gather, to celebrate the life of a General who dedicated his life to service, love, generosity and devotion that touched us all deeply."

In accordance with his wishes, which called for his burial to take place within 72 hours of his passing, his funeral is scheduled for April 21.

An initial service will be held at his local church in Nduru following the burial.

"In honour of his humble nature, General Ogolla specified that his burial occurs within 72 hours of his passing, echoing the profound truth that from dust we came and to dust we shall return. "

The state now controls the activities that lead to Ogolla's burial. It's because of his death while in office.

On Thursday night, a plane carrying the bodies of General Ogolla and nine other military officers and soldiers arrived in Nairobi.

The bodies were received at the military hangar at Embakasi, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where a prayer service was conducted.

After midnight, they were transported in ambulances to Forces Memorial Hospital for preservation.
