A family in Kisii is in disbelief after a postmortem report revealed that their kin, who was previously thought to have drowned, had been killed before being dumped in the borehole.
While some members of the family believe the late Abel Nyakundi committed suicide, others feel he was murdered, as evidenced by the postmortem report.
Nyakundi's dead body was discovered in a well within his property, and it was assumed that he drowned.

Some family members had even made funeral plans before the autopsy was performed.
Dr Dominic S M O, a government pathologist, conducted a post-mortem at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital and determined that Nyakundi died from strangulation.
According to the post-mortem report, the pathologist determined that there were ligature marks on the neck indicating strangling and that there was no indication of drowning since the amount of water detected in the stomach was insufficient to suggest the same.
John Nyamwaya, the deceased's elder brother, who has rejected the autopsy report and requested a second one, had told reporters that Nyakundi had tried suicide in the past.
“He was my brother and I knew him well. He had tried to kill himself before and even now, he killed himself,” Nyamwaya said.
The deceased was reported missing on April 7, 2024, and his body was discovered in the borehole two days later.
