Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has delivered a strong cautionary message to Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior regarding his recent comments.
According to an article published in Monday's edition of The Standard, Musyoka has warned the outspoken governor for insinuating that the region experienced a decline in government appointments and development initiatives following the passing of veteran Ukambani politician Mulu Mutisya.
In response, Kalonzo called out Kilonzo Junior saying all leaders should advocate for equal rights to all kenyans.
Kalonzo also acknowledged that the country has undergone significant structural changes since the adoption of the 2010 constitution. Consequently, he urged Ukambani leaders to exert efforts to ensure that the region secures its share of benefits in the future.
"The most important thing for this community is not political positions but for all kenyans to enjoy their democratic rights where they don't see people looting funds. You should only worry about justice for all but not just about those positions", he said.

It's worth mentioning that Kalonzo Musyoka is widely regarded as the key figure in Ukambani politics and is thus anticipated to succeed former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as the head of the Azimio la Umoja, one of the factions within the One Kenya Coalition.
In the upcoming 2027 presidential race, Kalonzo is expected to compete against President William Ruto, a challenge he sees as his opportunity to oust the current administration.
Apart from Kalonzo, former Mombasa County governor Ali Hassan Joho is also in contention with former Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya for the position of succeeding Mr. Odinga as the leader of the ODM party.
