Alinur Mohamed, a prominent political figure, expressed his dismay following the recent arrest of former Treasury Cabinet Minister, Hon Ukur Yattani. Yattani, who previously held the position of governor in Marsabit from 2013 to 2017, was later appointed as the Minister of Finance in President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission detained him yesterday on allegations related to corruption.
As the people of Northern Kenya, we are unhappy with the arrest of former Treasury CS Ukur Yatani. Ruto and Gachagua promised not to politicise the war against corruption. Why target one community and Azimio? Does it mean we don't have corrupt leaders in Mt. Kenya & Rift Valley? pic.twitter.com/gw6iIaaeCI

According to Alinur Mohamed, the fight against corruption has been politicized by the government, despite their pre-election pledge not to do so.
He took to his twitter handle where he posed "As the people of Northern Kenya, we are unhappy with the arrest of former Treasury CS Ukur Yatani. Ruto and Gachagua promised not to politicise the war against corruption. Why target one community and Azimio? Does it mean we don't have corrupt leaders in Mt. Kenya & Rift Valley?"
The apprehension of Ukur Yattani follows the recent directive from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to arrest former Muranga governor, Hon Mwangi Wa Iria.
