A 58-year-old widow has been arrested after police discovered her husband's decomposing body inside their home in Sifa Farm, Kitengela.
According to the authorities, the widow had been living with her husband's dead at their home.
Police rushed the property after neighbors reported a weird odor from the woman's compound.
The police pushed their way into the woman's home when she refused to let them in, and they discovered the dead next to her bed in the living room.
“The police went into the compound and found the woman alone. She looked sick, tired and emaciated. She was actually shaking a lot,” said a source.
According to the neighbors, the woman said she had kept the body waiting for resurrection.
According to neighbors, the woman and her husband belonged to a religious cult that prohibited the ingestion of all meals save bananas and watermelons.
Furthermore, the woman allegedly stayed indoors often and did not communicate with her neighbors.
The couple did not have children, with the lady claiming that her beliefs did not allow her to have children.
The wife was brought to Mathare Hospital for treatment and evaluation, while her husband's body was transferred to City Mortuary to be buried in his hometown of Nyeri.
