As the nation grapples with the aftermath of continuous, heavy rains, the government has issued a serious advisory. Schools across the nation are urged not to reopen due to the ongoing flood situation.

Representing the government, Isaac Mwaura called on school administrators to follow President William Ruto's order on the Hot 96 Breakfast show.

Noting that the situation will likely worsen in the coming days, the president ordered the Ministry of Education to delay reopening all schools "until further notice."

Due to delays caused by the intense rains, the reopening date of the schools was initially scheduled for April 29, 2024, but was eventually moved to May 6, 2024.

"The Ministry of Education is directed to postpone the reopening of all schools in the country for the second term until further notice," said Ruto on Friday.

Isaac Mwaura, representing the government, has made it clear that there will be no tolerance for those who disregard the guidelines. Anyone found in violation will face legal consequences, a stern reminder of the gravity of the situation.

"Some of these educational institutions serve as rescue operations. Where do they anticipate the public that has been relocated to go when they reopen?" Mwaura took a position.

He continued that the government is organizing the public's relocation and evacuation to give displaced people a temporary place to live.
