Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has urged schools to heed the government's directive and not reopen schools amid the ongoing heavy rains and flooding.
On the Hot 96 Breakfast Show, government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura urged school principals to follow President William Ruto's instructions.
The president asked the Ministry of Education to postpone reopening all schools "until further notice," citing the likelihood that the situation may worsen in the coming days.

Schools were originally scheduled to reopen on April 29, 2024. However, due to severe rainfall, the date was pushed back to May 6, 2024.
"The Ministry of Education is directed to postpone the re-opening of all schools in the country for the second term until further notice," announced
Mwaura stated that individuals who violated the restrictions will face legal consequences.
"Some of these schools are being used as rescue centres. So when they re-open, where do they expect members of the public who have been relocated to go?" Mwaura posed.
He also stated that the administration is organizing the transfer and evacuation of impacted public members to give temporary refuge to displaced people.
