The wife of former Murang'a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria, Jane Waigwe Kimani, has been released on a ksh 5 million bond in a Ksh. 562 million corruption cases.
Jane appeared before Milimani Anti-Corruption Magistrate Victor Wakhumile and pled not guilty to corruption allegations, along with her co-accused, David Maina Kiama (her brother).
She was charged with conspiracy to commit a corrupt offense in the first count.

It is alleged that between October 21, 2014, and June 19, 2017, Jane and nine other accused people unlawfully contracted for the supply of media services granted to Top Image Media Consultant Limited over Ksh.351 million.
They were freed on Ksh.5 million bond or Ksh.1 million cash bail.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has also revealed that the accused were ordered to deposit travel papers with the court and refrain from leaving the country unless the court approves.
The former governor spent the night in the Industrial Area Prison on April 30th after failing to raise a KSh. Twenty million bonds and an alternative cash bail of KSh. 10 million.
He faces corruption accusations, including abuse of office, conflict of interest, illegal acquisition of public property, and money laundering, to which he has pled not guilty.
