Gatundu North MP Njoroge Kururia has sent message to the government and the National Lands Commission (NLC) . This is to speed up the compensation of residents near Karimenu Dam.



It has been said that the MP's plea comes after residents said they would move, only after they have been compensated. This is for their land contributed to the government the construction of the dam.


In regard to that, President William Ruto had ordered all Kenyans living around dams to vacate within 48 hours . This is as they could overflow following the current heavy rains.

More to that, it has been said that Gitwamba residents defy President William Ruto's order. This is to vacate their homes following the risk of the Karimenu Dam overflowing.

In regard to this, According to a report by Citizen TV, Kimani Karanja a resident went ahead and said, the government should not only compensate them, but also ensure that they give a structured plan . This is as to where they are relocating to.
